Rosneft Unveils Altai Tourist Route

01 October 2025

Rosneft and the Altai Territory’s Department of Tourism and Resort Development have unveiled a new tourist route called “Hello, Altai!”. The route has been designed specifically for tourists travelling by car and takes in the region’s main sights.

Rosneft is committed to the development of domestic tourism and creates comfortable conditions for car travellers. One of Rosneft’s key objectives is to enhance the quality of its roadside assistance and customer service at its filling stations.

The 720 km circular route, “Hello, Altai!”, passes through Rosneft filling stations where you can refuel your car with high-quality fuel, take a break and enjoy a tasty snack, and find out about tourist destinations in the region. The expected travel time is three days. During this time, tourists can admire the natural beauty of the Altai region and learn about its rich history and culture.

The route starts in Barnaul. There are architectural monuments from different periods, ranging from factory buildings to merchant mansions and temples dating from the 19th and 20th centuries. The natural wealth of Barnaul is its ribbon forest, which is the longest in Western Siberia. Part of the route ends with a walk along the Ob River.

The next stop on the route is Kosikha village, the birthplace of the poet Robert Rozhdestvensky. A memorial museum opened here in 2012, housing valuable exhibits including the poet’s personal belongings and previously unpublished poems. Visiting the museum offers a genuine insight into the world of Robert Rozhdestvensky’s work and life. Then, travellers are welcomed to the memorial museum of German Titov, the second and youngest cosmonaut in history to make an orbital spaceflight.

Another city on the route is Biysk, where tourists can visit the Chuysky Trakt Museum. It is one of the most beautiful roads on the planet. Winding its way through the mountains and serpentines, it stretches for thousands of kilometres. The museum displays geological, palaeontological, zoological and botanical collections that portray the richness of Altai’s natural landscape. The historical centre of Biysk contains old merchant buildings, architectural monuments and examples of wooden architecture. Among them are the Vtorov and Firsov trade passages, belonging to two of the wealthiest dynasties of the 19th and 20th centuries.

After that tourists can visit the Vasily Shukshin memorial museum-reserve. Visitors can explore the writer and film director’s small homeland, visit his school, and see the house where he spent his childhood. Travellers can also enjoy the picturesque views of Piket Mountain.

The route then continues alongside the Katun River, home to the Tavda Caves complex, where cliffs stretch for almost five kilometres. Tourists are invited to visit Nikolai Roerich Park, which he considered to be a place of power, as well as the historical and architectural complex of Andreevskaya Sloboda, where visitors can experience 19th-century Siberian life.

The final stop is the Mountain Pharmacy Museum, which is located in a historic building in Barnaul. Medicines and potions made from Altai herbs were sold here back in the 18th and 19th centuries. Car travellers can enjoy unique exhibits, historical displays and theatrical tours, as well as a shop selling natural Altai products.

Rosneft supports initiatives to develop domestic tourism. Together with its partners, the Company has already developed 49 road trip routes around the country. Some of them are presented on Rosneft’s own information and service platform called Horizons of Russia, which operates in a similar way to a construction set, enabling tourists to plan their own route via the Company’s filling stations.

Rosneft’s retail network is the largest in Russia in terms of geographical coverage and number of filling stations. The brand of Rosneft filling stations is one of the leaders in terms of recognition and quality of the fuel nationwide. The Company operates around 3,000 filling stations. The Rosneft filling station network in the Altai Territory consists of 70 stations, providing extensive coverage of the region and serving as a valuable community resource.
