Rosneft is driving the digital transformation in the oil and gas industry, implementing cutting-edge IT solutions for managing big data in geology. The Company’s Tyumen Research Institute has developed and patented a system for managing geological, geophysical and field information.

The KBD.Basis system collects data from extraction enterprises and employs 300 algorithms to monitor the quality of the information found. The innovation reduces the cost of labour involved in preparing hydrodynamic modelling, which is used to optimise field development.

The KBD.Basis system has been successfully implemented in the Company since 2024, with an annual economic effect of 35 million roubles.

The new information system is set to serve as the foundation for the large-scale implementation of machine learning methods. The institute’s scientists have already achieved positive initial results in terms of data classification and creating artificial intelligence models for forecasting and making recommendations for decision-making.

Technological potential development  is one of the key items of the Rosneft 2030 Strategy. The Company pays utmost attention to innovation, recognising the technological leadership as an essential element for competitive performance on the oil market.
