A team of specialists from Samotlorneftegaz, Rosneft’s production subsidiary, and the Company’s Samara Research Institute has developed software based on neural network modelling. This software is intended to optimise the operation of production wells at the Samotlor field.
This new digital instrument generated an economic benefit of 100 million roubles in 2025 alone.
This innovative product has been trained on a big data set that includes information about the operation of the Samotlor mechanised well fleet for the period from 2019 to 2025.
The software employs artificial neural networks to analyse information, performs technological calculations, and generates a list of optimisation measures for each well.
The software is registered with the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) as a digital product. The corporate research institute’s specialists are responsible for creating databases to train neural network models at other Company’s fields.
Technological potential development is one of the key items of the Rosneft 2030 Strategy. The Company pays utmost attention to innovation and breakthroughs, recognising the technological leadership as an essential element for competitive performance on the oil market.

Samotlorneftegaz is one of Rosneft’s key production assets, operating in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District - Yugra. The enterprise is developing the Samotlor field is the largest in Russia and one of the largest in the world. It was discovered in 1965.
