A school accommodating 800 pupils has opened in Gubkinsky with Rosneft's support, making it the largest educational institution in the city. The project was implemented as part of cooperation between Rosneft and the Government of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District. The agreement on financing the construction of the school was signed at the XXVII St Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2024.
The project is aimed at supporting the education sector in the region, which is in line with the objectives and national development goals set by the Russian President in his Address to the Federal Assembly. Rosneft actively supports social projects aimed at creating favourable living conditions in the regions where it operates.
The new four-storey school has been built to replace an outdated building dating from 1986. The infrastructure of the new educational institution allows for teaching in two shifts, accommodating up to 1,400 children.
The building, spanning over 18,000 square metres, comprises two blocks connected by heated walkways. The school provides facilities for studying natural sciences and IT technologies, featuring equipped scientific and technical laboratories and a modern library. An assembly hall, museum, canteen and sports halls with a gym area have also been constructed. The atriums with natural lighting include rest areas, whilst there is also a winter garden with an observation deck. The school grounds feature sports facilities with exercise equipment, pitches for futsal, volleyball and basketball, along with landscaped recreational areas.
A car park and a new bus stop are located near the school for the comfort of students and parents. Additionally, within walking distance are a sports school swimming pool and children's art school, which young Gubkinsky residents attend as part of additional education programmes. The new school will also continue the work of the Technical Creativity Station educational centre, where students are engaged in robotics and aircraft modelling.
Thanks to Rosneft's support, most significant social facilities in Gubkinsky have been built, including the city hospital, children's library, music and art schools, residential complexes, as well as the Neftyanik Palace of Culture and Gubkinsky Arena Ice Palace.
