History

AO Orenburgneft has been developing oil and gas fields for 60 years and is one of the largest assets of Rosneft Oil Company in the Volga Federal District.

Orenburgneft and its subsidiaries own production facilities in three constituent entities of the Russian Federation (Orenburg, Samara and Saratov Regions). Orenburgneft is the largest oil production enterprise in the Orenburg Region.

Orenburgneft manages AO Inzerneft, an oil and gas production enterprise, and OOO RN-Buzuluk Gas Processing Company, which is engaged in associated petroleum gas processing.

Orenburgneft's accumulated production exceeds 465 million tons of oil and 36 billion m3 of gas.

In 2023, one oil field and 19 new accumulations within existing fields were discovered. The total increase in recoverable reserves at year-end amounted to more than 15.8 million tons of oil and 577 million m3 of gas.

As of the beginning of 2024, 111 hydrocarbon fields within Orenburgneft's license areas are on the state reserves balance sheet. The largest of them are the Sorochinsko-Nikolskoye, Pokrovskoye, Rodinskoye, Olkhovskoye, Bobrovskoye, Donetsko-Syrtovskoye and Volostnovskaya group fields.

Geological exploration works are underway in 10 license areas.

In order to increase production levels, AO Orenburgneft pays considerable attention to replenishing the resource base. For this purpose, modern methods of field prospecting and exploration are used. At present, 3D seismic surveys cover over 90% of the territory of the company's license areas. Prospecting, appraisal and exploration drilling, prospecting and additional exploration of missed deposits at mature fields under development are carried out annually.

In addition, the company implements investment projects to improve environmental performance, social programs, and conducts charitable activities in the areas where it operates

In 2022, two new fields, Biktovskoye and Chertyshovoye, and 16 oil deposits were discovered.

In 2021, Orenburgneft started development of four new fields: Stepanovskoye, Krasnopolskoye, Novokozlovskoye and Pogranichnoye. Ten deposits were discovered at the existing fields.

In 2020, 9 new oil fields and 40 deposits were discovered at existing fields. Orenburgneft launched the Company's pilot project to study tight reserves at the Kutuluksky subsoil block in the Orenburg region.

In 2019, the company discovered 12 new fields and 48 deposits within the existing fields. The total increase in recoverable reserves under AB1C1 categories amounted to more than 37 million tons of oil and 6.2 billion cubic meters of gas.

The energy efficiency and energy saving program is being successfully implemented. In 2019, more than 108.2 million kWh of electricity was saved, which is about 13 thousand tons of fuel equivalent or in monetary terms - about 366.4 million rubles. The economic effect from the implementation of the operational efficiency improvement program amounted to more than RUB 1 billion.

In 2018, Orenburgneft discovered 15 new fields and 37 deposits within existing fields. The total increase in recoverable reserves under AB1C1 categories was more than 38 million tons of oil and 3.9 billion cubic meters of gas.

The rate in production and exploration drilling amounted to more than 340 thousand meters. The drilling rate plan was realized within 11 months.

As part of Rosneft's target program for metrology and quality control, a new chemical-analytical laboratory was commissioned at the Pokrovskoye oilfield and 20 oil metering stations were re-equipped.

In 2014-2015, additional measures were approved (modernization and construction of 35 facilities) of the Targeted Gas Program aimed at improving the environmental situation in the production regions and rational use of APG. In total, during the program implementation period, the following facilities were built:

  • 11 gas compressor stations with a total capacity of more than 700 million cubic meters per year;
  • more than 300 km of gas pipelines;
  • Pokrovskaya GTP with a capacity of 450 million cubic meters per year was commissioned;
  • the second stage of the Zaikinsky GPP with a capacity of 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas per year was commissioned, total capacity amounted to 2.2 billion cubic meters.

During the period 2015-2018, 12 TGP facilities were completed and put into operation.

At the end of 2012, the company produced 18.6 million tons of oil and 3.4 billion m³ of gas. Oil production growth is achieved through commissioning of new oil fields and oil deposits within the developed areas, application of alternative methods and new technologies of impact on productive beds in combination with optimization of oil production.

The increase in oil and condensate reserves of commercial categories in 2012 reached 206.67% of the current production level.

Since 2005, Orenburgneft has been implementing the "Gas" Program in the Orenburg region to systematically increase the level of beneficial use of associated petroleum gas. The program includes reconstruction of existing gas pipelines and construction of new gas pipelines and gas compressor stations. A railway terminal is being built at the Tulpan station to sell the associated petroleum gas processing products.

Orenburgneft produced its 350 millionth ton of oil in 2003. The company achieved 27% production growth, producing over 12 million tons of oil over the year.

In 2001, the first stage of the Zaikinsky gas processing plant (GPP) in Pervomaiskiy district was commissioned, designed to produce 1.1 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year.

In 1993, the Orenburgneft Production Association, established on February 19, 1963, was transformed into an open joint-stock company under the same name.

In January 1984, the 100-millionth ton of Buzuluk oil was produced, and on November 12 of the same year, the 200-millionth ton of Orenburg oil was produced. Four hundred and twenty teams of workers of the company competed for the honorable right to produce the milestone ton.

In 1976, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR awarded the Production Association Orenburgneft the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for "Successful accomplishment by the Association employees of the tasks of the ninth five-year plan and socialist commitments to oil production and productivity growth and expedited development of new fields".

In 1963, the Orenburgneft Production Association was established on the basis of the Buguruslanneft Oilfield Directorate and the Mechanical Repair Office in Buguruslan. Later, the Buzulukneft oilfield department, the motor transportation office, the drilling office and the construction and installation department in the village of Grachevka, the Pilyuginsky oilfield and the workers' supply department of Buguruslanneft were included in the Association structure.

During the years of the Great Patriotic War, hydrocarbon production was increased 10 times. In 1941-1945, about 1 million tons of oil was sent from the depths of the Orenburg soil to the needs of the front. In 1942, Orenburg oilmen were awarded the Red Banner of the State Defense Committee for their hard work.

Oil prospecting continued in 1945 - Buzuluk and Sorochinsky districts of the region were explored.

In 1938, the Buguruslanneft trust was established.
