Training and development of personnel

The successful professional activities and teamwork of each Company's employee depends on the knowledge and skills they possess. Rosneft provides its employees with opportunities to continuously improve their abilities and skills. A key aspect of the personnel training and development policy is the strategy of internal growth and professional development.

Rosneft has a general corporate training system covering all business areas and personnel categories.

Rosneft’s corporate system of personnel training and development is aimed at the solution of the following strategic tasks:

  • ensuring the level of professional and technical competence of employees within the current and prospective requirements of the Company's business;
  • strengthening the Company's management competencies, including through the development of the internal staff reserve;
  • supplying the Company's strategic projects with trained personnel;
  • compliance with mandatory state requirements for the level of personnel training in the fuel and energy complex aimed at ensuring the quality and safety of operations; ensuring the required level of competence for all Company employees involved in the operational safety management system;
  • ensuring the required level of competence of all Company employees involved in the corporate system of operational safety and labor protection management.

In accordance with the designated tasks and depending on the objectives for which the training and development is performed, the programs are divided into the following categories: compulsory training programs to ensure occupational safety and quality of operations; professional development programs, including vocational training, retraining, advanced training; target courses for the development of professional competencies; management programs.

Training courses include and introduce state regulations, corporate policies and procedures, best Russian and foreign practices.

A lot of attention is paid to the key areas of vocational and engineering education. In the development and production: geology and development of deposits, well drilling, development of oil and gas resources on the continental shelf, production of hard-to-recover reserves, perspective technologies for enhancing oil production and increasing oil recovery, offshore production systems. In processing, commerce and logistics: improving the oil and gas refining processes, improving the efficiency of primary and secondary oil refining, advanced technologies for retail network facilities, development of the associated business, transport logistics, international trading in oil and oil products.

The Company conducts management training for managers, identifies and develops the personnel reserve.

The current distance learning system contains a large number of corporate courses and multimedia manuals, providing quick and convenient access to knowledge for the employees.

In order to share the experience and knowledge among employees, internal resources and accumulated expertise are actively used to increase the efficiency of their work. The continuity of in-house training is ensured by the joint efforts of personnel departments staff, heads of departments and experts in various professional areas, which allows to preserve the accumulated organizational potential, speed up the introduction of corporate standards, improve knowledge of business processes and inter-functional interaction.

The Company continuously increases the capacity of the training base in the regions of operation, aiming to actively use and develop its own training resources. 10 practical training fields and 59 training centers and classes are run by over 2000 coaching and teaching staff of the Company's expert personnel. A program is being implemented to equip the training centers with simulators for teaching practical skills to the operational personnel working at hazardous production facilities.

In the Rosneft Group Companies are implementing a system of mentoring and development of workers, the efficiency of which ensures the development and implementation of corporate educational standards for working professions, which include both corporate requirements to the professional qualification of workers, and the training program documentation with test and assessment materials for assessing the employees’ knowledge and skills. Company Experts take part in the state project on the development of professional industry standards.
