Youth Policy

The youth policy of Rosneft is focused on the following key tasks:

  • ensuring the formation of a young external succession pool of the Company from among the best graduates of schools motivated to receive high-quality vocational education and be employed in the Company;
  • ensuring the inflow of the necessary number of promising young professionals from among the best graduates of higher education institutions to the Company, who have a level of training corresponding to the requirements of the Company's  business;
  • ensuring the effective work of young professionals by accelerating their adaptation, developing vocational, corporate and managerial competencies, involving young specialists in innovative, research and project activities;
  • ensuring support of the state policy in the field of vocational education.

The company's corporate continuing education system "School - University - Company" allows effectively solving the tasks set. Forming an external succession pool begins in the senior grades of general education organizations. In the best schools located in the regions where the Company operates, the 10th and 11th Rosneft grades operate with the support of Group Companies. At present, 111 Rosneft grades have been established in 52 cities and towns, in 58 schools, with a total of 2,615 students. In the 2018-2019 academic year, it is planned to open four new Rosneft grades in Ufa, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Izluchinsk, KhMAO-Yugra, Tyumen, Tyumen Region, Vladivostok, Primorsky Territory.

Work to form an external succession pool continues in higher educational institutions. PJSC NK Rosneft and Group Companies cooperate on the basis of long-term comprehensive agreements with 58 higher education institutions of the country; 23 universities have the status of partner universities of PJSC NK Rosneft.

The Company performs systematic work with students of partner universities and specialized regional universities, ensuring attraction, selection and motivation of the best of them for employment at the companies of Rosneft. Annually, the Company organizes, conducts, and also takes part in career-orientation-image events for young students. The most effective form of attracting students to practical training and employment in the Company are the Days of Rosneft and participation in college vacancies fairs. More than 4,500 students practice annually at the Company's enterprises. One third of the students who have completed practical training after graduating from high education institutions are employed in the Company with the status of a young specialist. For each of them, a mentor from experienced workers is assigned.

More than 4,000 young specialists work in the Company Group Companies. Young specialists are graduates of full-time departments of higher educational institutions under the age of 33 years, who have their first job demanding the specialties learned and employed in the Company within one year from the date of graduation from the institution for positions of managers, specialists, employees or working professions (with the prospect of occupying the posts of managers, specialists, employees) in the specialized fields of activity (corresponding to the qualifications indicated in the diploma).

Work with young specialists is one of the priorities of the Company's HR policy; it includes adaptation at the enterprise, involvement of young specialists in innovative, research and project activities, training of young specialists to develop their vocational, corporate, managerial competencies, identifying and development of young specialists with leadership potential. By the end of the 3rd year of work, based on the results of business assessment games, the best young specialists receive a recommendation for inclusion in the Group's young strategic succession pool.

In order to maximize the involvement of young specialists in innovative, research and project activities, the Company annually conducts scientific and technical conferences at the level of the enterprise, region, the Company, in which more than 50% of young specialists participate. The best projects presented at the final conference of the Company are recommended for implementation.

The Councils of Young Professionals work in Group Companies. The main functions of the Councils are to facilitate the adaptation of young professionals, to represent the interests of young professionals in front of management personnel, to assist young specialists in solving social problems, to participate in the career guidance work with Rosneft grades and in working with higher and secondary professional training institutions, as well as participation in the preparation and conduct of scientific and technical conferences and events aimed at the development of vocational, corporate competences of young professionals.
