Rosneft is now the only state-owned oil and gas company whose shares have been included in all sustainability indices by the Moscow Exchange.
Following its annual review, the exchange included the Company’s shares in the calculation bases of three new sustainability indices: the Climate Sustainability Index for Non-Financial Companies, the Moscow Exchange-RAEX ESG Balanced Index and the Moscow Exchange-RUIE Index Group.
Companies that adhere to the highest standards of environmental, social and corporate governance, and that disclose relevant information in their corporate reports, can become participants in Moscow Exchange’s Sustainability Indices.
The Climate Resilience Index for non-financial companies comprises the securities of leading ESG companies with well-established climate management systems and risk control measures.
The Moscow Exchange-RAEX ESG Balanced Index is formed once a year and consists of 20 companies with the highest sustainable development scores from the RAEX rating agency. The index is calculated based on the RAEX ESG ranking, which includes 145 companies from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia, 20 of which represent the oil and gas industry.
Since 2007, Rosneft has been publishing sustainability reports in accordance with Russian and international recommendations. The document is subject to independent assessment by an external auditor.
The reports present the Company’s achievements in sustainable development, reflects its contribution to the development of national projects in the Russian Federation, and discloses key economic and environmental indicators, information about scientific and social projects, cultural and sporting events.
Environmental responsibility is one of Rosneft’s key priorities. The Company has consistently increased the volume of green investments: by the end of 2024 it reached 74 billion roubles, and from 2022 to 2024 – nearly 200 billion roubles. The funds are allocated to programmes for improving pipeline reliability, constructing associated petroleum gas utilisation infrastructure, reducing emissions and other projects.
