Igor Sechin takes a working trip to China and Russia’s Far East

19 May 2014

In the run up to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to China, Igor Sechin met with Fu Chengyu, Chairman of Sinopec in Beijing on May 15, 2014. The two counterparts discussed a broad array of matters related to the ongoing projects and prospects of expanding the companies’ cooperation, including the possible long-term crude oil supply contract.

On the same day, Rosneft President met with Zhou Jiping, Chairman of the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation. The executives discussed a wide range of matters, in particular, cooperation in production projects in Eastern Siberia. The talks also touched upon hydrocarbon refining projects and the construction of related infrastructure.

On May 16, 2014 Igor Sechin and Sakhalin Region Governor Alexander Khoroshavin took part in a ceremony on the Sakhalin Island to inaugurate Rosneft major scale project to drill the first production well in the Chaivo Northern Tip area. The field will be developed using innovative drilling technology. In particular, a unique one-of-its-kind rig called Yastreb will be used to drill the well.

On May 18, 2014 Igor Sechin held negotiations with Pirelli & C. S.p.A. leadership, including Marco Tronchetti Provera, Pirelli Managing Director, in Vladivostok. The parties discussed matters related to expanding their cooperation around synthetic rubber production in Nakhodka (under the Eastern Petrochemical Company project). Another topic discussed was the future development of the trading and marketing project in Russia. Rosneft entities are now working with Camfin (that holds a 26.19% stake in Pirelli & C. S.p.A.) to buy a stake in Pirelli & C. S.p.A.. So far, all necessary corporate decisions have been made; the deal has been prepared and can take place provided necessary regulators’ permissions are obtained.
