Rosneft has signed a trilateral cooperation agreement on personnel training with Lomonosov Moscow State University and MSU-BIT University in Shenzhen (China) at the XXIX St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
This document has been signed by Igor Sechin, Rosneft Chief Executive Officer, Victor Sadovnichy, MSU Rector, and Li Hezhang, President of the MSU-BIT University.
The agreement outlines training courses for Rosneft employees under joint programs of Lomonosov Moscow State University and MSU-BIT University in the following areas: operational efficiency improvement, logistics, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and new technologies in the oil and gas sector.
The years of 2026–2027 have been designated as the Years of Russia-China Cooperation in Education by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Thus, the agreement is deemed of outmost strategic importance. This partnership not only strengthens bilateral educational ties but is also in line with the priorities set out in the initiative, facilitating the training of highly qualified personnel required to support deepening cooperation between the two nations.

MSU has been a key partner university of Rosneft since 2006. The major areas of cooperation include personnel training and re-training programs, as well as research & development. The Rosneft Research and Educational Center for Digital Technologies in the Oil and Gas Industry was established within the Department of Geology and Geochemistry of Oil and Gas, Faculty of Geology, at Moscow State University. The center offers a specialized master's program, Digitalization in Fossil Fuel Geology. The Faculty of Biology at Moscow State University has set up a corporate master's program, Genomics and Human Health, to provide training courses for highly qualified specialists in genetic technology. In addition, Lomonosov Moscow State University is implementing an advanced training program, Operational Efficiency Improvement, for employees of the Company Oil, Gas, and Offshore Business Development Unit. The Company takes part in delivery of innovative educational projects at the University Gymnasium that hosts lectures for Rosneft Classes students.
Rosneft annually holds career guidance events for MSU students and arranges internship programs to attract young talents.
Shenzhen MSU-BIT University was set up in 2017 by Lomonosov Moscow State University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government.
The university provides training programs for young specialists in China who are needed to implement economic projects run by the two nations in the Asia-Pacific Region. Courses are provided in Russian, Chinese, and English according to the MSU educational standards by professors and lecturers from leading universities and research centers across the world.
