Rosneft hosted its inaugural corporate women's volleyball competition. The event attracted over 130 female athletes from 17 teams, representing the Company's enterprises across many regions – from Moscow to Tomsk – who competed for the victory.
The tournament's opening ceremony, which took place in Tyumen, was attended by Evgeny Garanichev, a three-time Russian champion and Winter Olympic medallist in the individual biathlon event. He extended his best wishes to all competitors, emphasising the importance of a fair contest, describing the Rosneft Women's Volleyball Tournament as a vibrant, stylish and beautiful celebration of sport.
The volleyball players provided fans with a series of exciting and emotionally charged matches over the course of two days of play. The Sevkomneftegaz team won the competition, with the RN-Vankor women’s volleyball team taking silver and the RN-Uchet team winning bronze.
In addition, the organisers arranged a cultural programme for the volleyball players, offering athletes from various regions of our country the opportunity to explore Tyumen's landmarks.
The chief referee of the competition, Mikhail Becker, a legendary Tyumen referee and All-Union-level volleyball referee, noted the high standard of training among the participants, the excellent coaching in volleyball and the passion for this wonderful sport in the cities represented by the teams. He also awarded the best volleyball players in their respective positions.
