The International Day of Clean Air is celebrated annually on 7 September. The day was established by the UN General Assembly with the aim of raising awareness and finding solutions to protect the planet's atmosphere. As part of its commitment to environmental protection, Rosneft allocated 3.8 billion roubles to air quality protection in 2025.
A responsible attitude towards the environment is one of Rosneft's core principles. In 2025, the Company's green investments, including those aimed at reducing industrial emissions, rose by 4% to nearly 77 billion roubles; over the three-year period, this figure exceeded 215 billion roubles.
Rosneft's subsidiaries are implementing the most effective environmentally friendly technologies and modernising their production capacities, monitoring emissions, and contributing to the creation of a favourable environment in the regions of their operations.
In support of the federal Clean Air project and to promote Russia's national development goals, the Company has approved a corporate programme of the same name to reduce industrial emissions in 2025. It establishes provisions for measures to be implemented at production sites in the 13 cities of the Company's operations that are participating in the federal emissions quota pilot scheme.
One of the Company's strategic priorities in the field of environmental protection is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Rosneft has been implementing a programme to control fugitive emissions of methane and other hydrocarbons for several years. In 2025, production facility monitoring was conducted at 39 oil and gas production and refining enterprises. The Company is also conducting ongoing trials of monitoring technologies at gas distribution infrastructure sites and offshore terminals.
The Company's environmental benchmarks include increasing the production of natural gas as a fuel with lower greenhouse gas emissions, and developing and launching new products that enable consumers to reduce their environmental impact and carbon footprint, and improve the efficiency of their production facilities.
Rosneft has always placed great emphasis on the conservation and restoration of forests – the lungs of the planet. In 2025, employees of the Company's subsidiaries planted around 8 million tree saplings of various species across different regions of the country as part of reforestation activities.
