Specialists at Rosneft’s Tomsk Design Institute developed and successfully implemented the Potok information system. This innovative approach significantly improves the design of oil and gas facilities and minimises operational risks before construction begins.

 Potok streamlines the design process by providing adaptive calculation details: the system automatically switches from annual to monthly planning when changes in the properties of the water-oil emulsion are assessed. The information system also performs routine tasks—it automatically exports data and transfers it to the simulator, which reduces the workload on engineers.

The system’s effectiveness has been confirmed in a practical project at one of the fields in Eastern Siberia. Using Potok for infrastructure modelling helped identify a potential risk: pressure slightly exceeded the permissible limit by a margin of two months at one of the cluster sites.

The early detection of this issue allowed the engineers to quickly propose an optimal solution. Production of 120 metric tons of crude was postponed. The adjustment was made within the calendar year, which made it possible to maintain the project’s economic efficiency targets.

Improving production efficiency is one of the key elements of the Rosneft-2030 Strategy. The Company is systematically introducing advanced technological solutions to reduce operating costs for its enterprises.
