Specialists from Bashneft and Rosneft's research institute in Ufa have developed and patented a “virtual flow meter” – a new digital service for monitoring production. The service provides real-time comparisons between the actual and potential productivity of wells, enabling the rapid identification of opportunities to increase production volumes.
The new digital system seamlessly shares data with the RN-VEGA corporate software suite. The system utilises machine learning technologies, enabling the calculation of oil flow rates in an average of just 10 seconds per well.
The trial operation proved the tool to be highly reliable and accurate. At present, the software is being used by specialists to make real-time decisions on optimising production at Bashneft's fields.
Furthermore, it is planned to integrate the new service with the RN-Predix Saturn comprehensive digital oilfield management system and roll it out to other Rosneft enterprises.
The development of the Company's own technologies is an integral component of the Rosneft-2030 Strategy. Rosneft is the first oil and gas company in Russia to have successfully developed software covering all key oil and gas production processes, thereby ensuring the sector's technological independence.
For reference:
The RN-VEGA software package has been developed for the planning and analysis of hydrodynamic well studies. The system is distinguished by its high processing speed and accuracy, and it ensures comprehensive import substitution for this class of software.
The RN-Predix Saturn system has been developed to automate the management of oilfield operations. It is a comprehensive domestic development, the first of its kind in the industry to integrate all key processes — from well production and oil processing to its transport to the Company's refinery.
