Rosneft's specialists at the Krasnodar design institute have developed a system for a unified digital dataset on the technical condition of industrial facilities. This “new digital product” synthesises the findings from various research studies and has been adapted for use with Russian software suites.
This product comprises a set of digital data compiled on the basis of surveys of industrial facilities at various stages of their lifecycle. It consists of point clouds obtained using airborne and ground-based laser scanning, SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) technology, high-resolution photographs, and the results of instrumental surveys of building structures.
This “new digital product” can be used in the design, refurbishment and maintenance of industrial facilities, as well as in the preparation of documentation for approvals and expert assessments. The use of a single, reliable source of information has been shown to improve the accuracy of design decisions by 20–30%, reduce the time taken to process survey results and minimise the risks associated with insufficient or incompatible source data.
The new methodology is distinct from traditional approaches in which the results of individual measurements are stored separately. Instead, it combines information on the object's geometry and its physical and mechanical state into a single digital model. The digital data set includes specific information regarding the thickness and hardness of the structures, as well as the grades of steel utilised.
The Company's specialists are continuing to develop and scale up the digital product for use at oil and gas industry sites. In the long term, there are plans to expand its functionality through the use of artificial intelligence technologies.
The development of the Company's own digital technologies is a key priority area in the Rosneft-2030 Strategy. The Company is consistently developing domestic software solutions to help improve efficiency and strengthen the oil and gas sector's technological independence.
