Orenburgneft, Rosneft’s key production asset in the Volga region, organised a large-scale trail run. For the first time, runners conquered the ancient peaks of the Ural foothills in the region. From above, these rocky ridges resemble a dragon’s back. This is where legendary Stone Belt, the great Russian mountain range, begins.

The massive event attracted more than 1,500 people. Guests and race participants included Rosneft enterprise employees in the Volga region, professional athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts. Depending on their fitness level, participants could choose between 25 km, 10 km or 5 km routes. A special one-kilometre children’s race was organised for the youngest participants.

The trail routes showcased the natural beauty of the Orenburg Region to the athletes. The Steppe Urals’ picturesque slopes are renowned for the pristine beauty of their ancient mountains. These locations form part of the popular road trips The Power of Nature and Orenburg Winter Patterns. Orenburgneft staff presented guests with five tourist routes for motorists that have been opened over the past two years. All of these routes were created in collaboration with the Orenburg regional government.

Original medals and travel-friendly gifts from the Company were awarded to the overall winners across all trail distances.

To coincide with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, volunteers from the enterprise organised a quiz entitled ‘Encyclopaedia of Our Native Land’. Participants learnt about the history, culture and customs of the region’s ethnic groups, as well as prominent figures with links to the Orenburg Region. The most knowledgeable participants received commemorative gifts from the Company.

Sport and tourism are two of the key areas of Rosneft’s social work. Orenburgneft promotes a healthy lifestyle and social initiatives in the region. The enterprise is a partner of the National Buzuluk Half Marathon and organises various sporting competitions, charity runs and themed challenges, such as the Energy of the Forest, Furry Run and Autumn with Sport. Employees of all ages, as well as veterans and young people from the Movement of the Firsts, take part in these sporting projects. Furthermore, the company’s employees regularly participate in various competitions, including the Energy of Life running events, IRONSTAR triathlons as part of the Rosneft team, and regional workers’ sports festivals.
