Specialists at Rosneft’s Ufa Research and Development Institute have developed unique software and an analytical system designed to verify the integrity of pipeline transport and enhance its reliability.
The software package continuously processes information about the properties of the pumped hydrocarbons, as well as pressure sensor data received at a frequency of up to 20 times per second. If any deviations are detected, it outputs the coordinates of the point at which pipeline integrity is lost.
The new technology will enable the effective monitoring of the integrity of pipelines transporting processed commercial oil and liquid hydrocarbons containing small amounts of gas. To ensure the system operates reliably, methods and algorithms have been developed that consider the specific features of the laying conditions, design, and fluid flow modes in the pipelines. The integrity loss detection technology for partially processed hydrocarbons has no analogues on the domestic market.
Implementing the software package will significantly reduce environmental risks and the costs associated with eliminating the consequences of pipeline failures.
Pilot industrial tests at the production facilities of Bashneft-Dobycha, Rospan International and Samaraneftegaz have demonstrated the solutions’ high efficiency. The project’s economic efficiency takes into account reduced hydrocarbon losses, optimised operating costs, and increased pipeline infrastructure reliability.
Based on the results of the pilot implementation, the innovation is planned to be scaled up to cover the entire Company pipeline complex.
