Rosneft Organises Tour to Corporate Research Facilities for Movement of the Firsts Activists

01 November 2025

Rosneft volunteers organized an exclusive tour of the Company's Moscow-based research institutes for schoolchildren from the Movement of Firsts.  The young activists explored petroleum composition, oil extraction processes, and the groundbreaking scientific expeditions the Company undertakes.

The collaboration between Rosneft volunteers and the Movement of the Firsts encompasses initiatives to raise awareness of oil industry careers, alongside volunteering and environmental programmes.

Research centre specialists briefed participants on the geologist profession and the objectives of geological expeditions, explained oil extraction methods and petroleum composition, and demonstrated several chemistry experiments.  In cutting-edge laboratories, the young visitors saw how petroleum products become the everyday products we use.

The Arctic Research Centre proved particularly engaging, with Rosneft's scientific expeditions photographs capturing the activists' attention.  The participants discovered how large-scale research projects are planned and even experienced what it's like to be part of northern expeditions. It included completing a safety briefing on protocols for polar bear encounters.  Beyond being the Company's emblem, the polar bear serves as a vital environmental indicator for the region. Russia's leading scientists have spent years studying these populations with Rosneft's support,  and young researchers shared findings on bear movements across Arctic waters.

The Company has now been running the most ambitious Arctic research programme since the Soviet era for 13 years.  This has encompassed over 60 expeditions investigating glaciers, icebergs, marine and coastal environments, as well as rare species of animals and birds. Comprehensive hydrometeorological studies of the High North were also organised, covering all of Russia's Arctic seas. It has been the source of a unique body of information on Arctic climate, nature and wildlife.
