Anniversary Final: the 20th Rosneft Summer Games Finished in Sochi

The 20th anniversary Rosneft Summer Sports Games have concluded in Sochi. The 20 strongest teams from the Company’s subsidiaries across the country, which had successfully passed the qualifying rounds, competed in the Olympic stadiums.
For four days, athletes competed for the title of strongest in 18 team and individual sports. The Olympic sites in Sochi hosted competitions in mini-football, basketball, 
volleyball, table tennis, chess, powerlifting, billiards, tug-of-war, shooting, as well as athletics relays and running events. This year’s programme of events included swimming for the first time.
Sports development is one of the key aspects of Rosneft’s social policy. The Company’s summer and winter sports games are the most popular events, with thousands of athletes from the oil industry participating. A total of 3,000 employees from 70 of the Company’s subsidiaries took part in the regional qualifying rounds of the summer sports games, 
held in nine cities across the country.
For the second year running, the Verkhnechonskneftegaz team won the overall team standings at the 20th Rosneft Summer Sports Games. Athletes from the Irkutsk Region won the most medals, which gave the victory to the team. The team of the Novokuybyshevsk Refinery took second place, while RN-Uvatneftegaz won the honourable bronze medal.
The oil workers achieved excellent results, setting new records in both team and individual contests.
For instance, Olga Lisova from the Novokuybyshevsk Refinery was the overall winner of the women’s table tennis competition, winning all nineteen matches without losing a single set. Ruslan Shvayko from Angara, the winner of the men’s table tennis tournament, is the youngest competitor of the event, he was born in 2001.
The Verkhnechonskneftegaz team won all seven of the basketball tournament games, including the final one, thus confirming their status as the strongest team. The Bashneft-Dobycha volleyball team earned the title of strongest team this year by winning all of their games. The Bashneft-Pererabotka team won the mini-football tournament in a tough battle.
Samaraneftegaz’s athletes won the team competition in the men’s and women’s 500 and 1000 metre runs. Dmitry Obolenskikh from Angara won the men’s chess competition, losing not a single one of the nineteen games he played and drawing only three. Lyudmila Vlasova of Uvatneftegaz 
won the women’s chess tournament, achieving 18 wins out of 19 games. The athletes from Samotlorneftegaz won the team swimming competition.

- Verkhnechonskneftegaz – 1st place
- Novokuybyshevsk Refinery – 2nd place
- Uvatneftegaz – 3rd place

The first Rosneft mass sports events took place in 2005. Since then, competitions have become part of the corporate culture. The Summer Sports Games are a vivid example of effective popularization of a healthy lifestyle, strengthening the team spirit, supporting mass sports and good traditions. Rosneft athletes also take part in all major mass sports competitions held in our country, winning prizes.
The Company runs a sports and wellness programme called «Energy of Life», in which employees regularly participate and compete in various sports disciplines. By 2024, the movement had grown to include 128,000 employees. At the same time, more than 92,000 employees took part in various sports competitions.
