Rosneft Holds Volunteer Meeting in Ufa

06 December 2024

To mark International Volunteer Day, Rosneft has held a corporate meeting of volunteers. During the two-day event in Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan, over 100 volunteers from 60 of the Company's subsidiaries summarised their year's work and discussed prospects for developing the Company's volunteer movement.

Volunteering is an integral part of Rosneft's corporate culture. In 2024 alone, Rosneft employees organised over 1,900 volunteer events and projects, with the participation of 106,000 Rosneft subsidiary employees.

The Platform of Good Deeds is a volunteering programme in which Rosneft employees participate in a variety of environmental, social, humanitarian, historical and cultural events. The volunteers conduct workshops and organise events to promote spiritual and patriotic values, respect for nature, and a culture of healthy living among young people and local residents.

More than 30,000 volunteers took part in activities designed to support children. For instance, on Oil and Gas Industry Workers' Day, Rosneft employees organised a series of events to help children from large and low-income families prepare for the new school year. These events included master classes on career guidance and an introduction to the oil industry for schoolchildren. Over 50 companies have launched the corporate Wish Tree campaign, collecting New Year gifts for children at family centres. Last year, oil workers collected and presented around 3,500 gifts to children.

This year's Victory Day celebrations brought together 38,000 Rosneft employees from 86 enterprises. As part of the Victory Letter campaign, employees and their children wrote triangular letters containing family stories and well wishes to oil industry veterans. At the Vankor field, Company employees organised a campaign called Memory Watch. On 9 May, shift workers brought portraits of their relatives who were veterans of the Great Patriotic War to work.

The Victory Waltz and Memorial Clean-up Day events proved particularly popular. Oil workers, their families, and local residents carried out landscaping and cleaning work at Great Patriotic War memorial sites.

Rosneft enterprises organised over 100 projects to support Great Patriotic War veterans this year, providing assistance to over 2,000 people. Additionally, the Company's enterprises organised over 130 volunteer projects to support veterans, the elderly, and those in challenging situations. Around 7,000 individuals received assistance through these initiatives.

Respect for the environment is one of Rosneft's operating principles. The Company's employees take part in clean-up days, organise the collection of waste paper, used batteries and plastic for recycling, and plant hundreds of thousands of saplings. They also clean up waterways. In 2024, over 600 environmental initiatives were implemented, involving more than 44,000 Rosneft volunteers.

The Company has been organising Donor Days for over 10 years. This year, the number of participants in the movement more than doubled to almost 9,000, and a total of 135 events were organised.

Other volunteer activities include participating in searches for missing people, helping at shelters for homeless animals, promoting literature, and collecting books for an exchange scheme. Over 200 such events were held during the year, involving 14,000 Rosneft volunteers.

Participants discussed the achievements and future plans of the Good Deeds Platform programme. Volunteers shared their experiences and talked about the most interesting initiatives. For instance, the RN-BashNIPIneft corporate scientific institute organises social tutoring, whereby employees help children in challenging circumstances prepare for their school exams. Bashneft employees mark hiking trails, including those leading to popular peaks in the Iremel Nature Park, while Vostsibneftegaz has helped to collect unwanted clothes and textiles for recycling as part of the Second Breath of Old Things campaign. Representatives from Verkhnechonskneftegaz explained how they organise Donor Days in remote oil fields.

In addition, Rosneft carries out various volunteer activities and events with the Movement of the Firsts. Since the beginning of this year, around 40 Rosneft enterprises and regional branches of the Movement of Firsts have organised over 160 activities for more than 2,800 children. Representatives from Rosneft and the Movement of Firsts also discussed potential future partnership initiatives and projects at the event.

The first volunteer meeting took place on 5 December 2023 at the Rosneft Pavilion during the Russia International Exhibition and Forum in Moscow. 150 employees from the Company's subsidiaries attended the event.
