Rosneft has organised a corporate ski race in Nefteyugansk. More than 450 athletes from the Company’s subsidiaries, as well as family members of oil industry specialists working in several regions of Russia, took part in the Rosneft Ski Track corporate winter races. Representatives of the Movement of Firsts also took part in the mass ski race.
Earlier this winter, the Rosneft Ski Track mass races had already taken place in Angarsk, Ufa and Krasnoyarsk. Almost 1,500 athletes had taken part in total. The Company dedicated these mass amateur competitions to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a celebration that the whole country is preparing for this year.
Five different distances, ranging from 500 metres to 10 kilometres, were prepared in Nefteyugansk for skiers of various age groups. Some of the distances were completed by entire classes of schoolchildren from the Movement of Firsts.
Despite their amateur status, the races were organised to a professional standard. All necessary arrangements were made for the athletes and guests of the event. There was a kitchen truck providing hot meals and tea, sports equipment hire, areas for preparing skis, heated changing rooms and places to rest. A cultural and entertainment programme was prepared for the young athletes, complete with a children’s area and an entertainer.
Professional judges chose the winners of the competitions in each of the 13 age groups.
The promotion of mass sports is one of Rosneft and its subsidiaries’ key areas of social commitment. Rosneft carries out extensive work to encourage sport and a healthy lifestyle among its employees and the local populations in its regions of operation.
Rosneft and its subsidiaries finance the construction of ice rinks, sports centres and multi-purpose sports grounds in regional areas. The Company also supports both amateur and professional sports.
