The 19th Interregional Scientific and Technical Conference (ISTC) of the Rosneft Oil Company has commenced in Moscow.
The event is attended by 430 young specialists from 70 of the Company’s subsidiaries — the winners of the 2024 Regional and Cluster Conferences — as well as students from partner universities: Gubkin Russian State Oil and Gas University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg Mining University, Tyumen Industrial University, Ufa Oil Technical University, Grozny Millionshchikov State Oil Technical University, and the Siberian and Kazan (Volga) Federal Universities.
ISTC sessions are held at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, covering all of Rosneft’s core business processes across 19 specialised sections. A panel of experts judged 324 projects submitted by young professionals. This panel was made up of managers and experts from the Company’s head office.
The aim of the conference is to identify projects that will improve business efficiency and replenish Rosneft’s talent pool with high-potential employees. All winners and runners-up of the conference, along with their scientific supervisors, will receive commemorative awards and cash prizes.
Rosneft holds annual scientific and technical conferences to develop the professional skills of young specialists, increase their motivation and involvement in innovative research activities, and encourage young talent.
The projects presented are of great practical importance to the Company’s production and economic activities. Rosneft has already implemented 31 projects in 2023, selected based on the 2022 ISTC results. These projects are expected to generate an economic benefit of more than 900 million roubles. A further 22 projects are planned for implementation at the Company’s facilities between 2024 and 2026.
For reference:
Scientific and technical conferences are an effective way of working with Rosneft’s young specialists and a means of assessing their potential. Rosneft has been organising conferences for its young specialists since 2006, with the events taking place in three stages:
Stage 1 is Regional Scientific and Technical Conferences (RSTC) held at subsidiaries sites;
Stage 2 is Cluster Scientific and Technical Conferences (CSTC) held in different regions;
Stage 3 is the final Interregional Scientific and Technical Conference (ISTC) held in Moscow.
