In October 2017, Rosneft became a full participant in the project with a 30% stake. The Zohr field was discovered by Eni in 2015. The field area is 231 sq. km, the sea depth is 1.2-1.7 km, and the gas deposit – 3.4-4 km. This field is one of the largest offshore fields in the Mediterranean Sea. The first gas from the Zohr field was produced in December 2017. Two new producing wells were commissioned in 2020. The current operating stock of 15 wells and the project's infrastructure facilities technically allow to produce, prepare and deliver up to 90 mmcm of gas per day to the Egyptian gas transportation system. All gas produced at Zohr field is supplied to the Egyptian national gas grid. Monetization of gas in Rosneft's share is carried out under the long-term contract signed with the Egyptian state-owned company EGAS for the supply of gas under state guarantee.
