East-Siberian Oil and Gas Company
OJSC East-Siberian Oil and Gas Company was established in April 1994 to succeed the state companies Eniseineftegazgeologia and Eniseigeofizika. The company holds an exploration and production license to the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye field as well as an exploration license to the Agaleevskoye gas condensate field in East Siberia. East-Siberian Oil and Gas Company, formerly owned by Yukos, was acquired by Rosneft at an auction held in May 2007.
Seasonal oil production was carried out at the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye field in 2009 to provide for the Company’s own needs and the needs of nearby communities. Due to its complex geological structure and lack of transport infrastructure, full-scale field development requires substantial investment and is therefore subject to tax benefits.
Work began in 2010 on construction of pilot production wells at the first section of the field in order to finalize technology for drilling, commissioning and operation of new well types (horizontal and inclined). Final decisions on technical aspects of field development will be taken based on results of this work. Seasonal oil production in 2010 for the Company’s own needs and the needs of nearby communities was provided as part of the pilot project. Full-scale development of the field will only be possible if a special tax regime is put in place, since large investments are needed to address its complex geology and remoteness from transport infrastructure.
Rosneft plans to develop the field in several stages, beginning with production drilling at the first section of the field, construction of field infrastructure, and building of a 600-km pipeline to Taishet (the start point of the ESPO pipeline).
