Overview
Rosneft is the standard-bearer of the Russian oil industry, achieving strong production growth despite the difficult environment. The Company’s average daily crude oil production in 2009 increased by 2.9%, to 2.18 mln barrels. Total crude oil output reached 796.4 mln barrels (108.9 mln tones) of oil and gas condensate. Rosneft is also among the largest independent gas producers in Russia, the Company’s total gas production was 12.7 bcm in 2009.
Rosneft is present almost in all Russian oil and gas producing regions — Western and Eastern Siberia, the Far East, the North Caucasus, Timan-Pechora, the Volga region, on the shelves of the Black, Caspian and Azov Seas, also on a shelf of Kamchatka.
The Company operates a huge and unrivalled reserve base. As of year-end 2009, Rosneft’s total proved oil and gas reserves under PRMS classification were 22.9 bln barrels of oil equivalent, among the highest for a publicly traded petroleum company worldwide. Rosneft is also is second-to-none in terms of total proved liquid hydrocarbon reserves.
Rosneft’s active participation in numerous exploration projects ensures access to considerable prospective resources, which will further support the Company’s long-term development. According to the mean estimate by DeGolyer & MacNaughton, total prospective recoverable resources in projects with Rosneft involvement were 47 bln barrels of oil equivalent at the end of 2009.
Unlike many of its competitors, Rosneft has a diverse portfolio of high-quality oil and gas assets, which allows the Company to secure sustainable cost-effective growth in the short, medium, and long term.
 Sakhalin Island is home to the Company’s subsidiary Sakhalinmorneftegaz, as well as to a number of projects involving Rosneft: Sakhalin-1, Sakhalin-3, Sakhalin-4, and Sakhalin-5 Verkhnechonskneftegaz, where Rosneft and TNK-BP hold major stakes, is developing the Verkhnechonskoye field in the Irkutsk Region East-Siberian Oil and Gas Company holds an exploration and development license to a part of the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye oil and gas field Vankorneft is developing the major Vankor field that will produce oil to be transported via the East Siberia — Pacific Ocean pipeline, which is currently under construction Tomskneft operates in both the Tomsk Region and the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District Rosneft’s largest gas producer, Purneftegaz, is developing the major Kharampurskoye gas field in West Siberia Yuganskneftegaz is Rosneft’s largest oil-producing enterprise.
