The major objective of the Company’s Healthcare Program is to achieve a 30% reduction in the overall illness rate by 2013 against 2006. The Program envisages the following measures:

  • annual medical examination and vaccination;
  • illness rate analysis and implementation of preventive measures;
  • recreation and health improvement;
  • encouraging healthy lifestyle;
  • maintaining comfortable and safe workplace conditions.

In 2009–2013, Rosneft plans to spend a total of RUB 7 bln on its Healthcare Program. The Company’s key healthcare priorities are introducing Corporate Healthcare Standards, developing healthcare divisions at the subsidiaries, illness prevention, and enhancing treatment effectiveness (including on-site treatment).

Personnel health improvement

In 2010 the Company has continued the health protection program assuming reduction by 2013 of illness cases by at least 30% of 2006 level. The Corporate Health Care Program was described in detail in the Sustainable Development Reports of 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

In order to optimize management of health and social care facilities the Company in 2008 has established a limited liability partnership – OOO RN-Zdorovye. A large number of the corporate health care and resort facilities have unique natural healing properties, successfully applied for prevention and cure for many illnesses. Thee facilities are located in Krasnodar Region, Samara and Irkutsk Regions (Baykal Lake).

In order to provide the employees with high-quality medical care the Company develops the system of collective voluntary medical insurance. In 2010, more than 100 thousand of Rosneft employees took advantage of the collective voluntary medical insurance. The collective VMI program includes the full scope of ambulatory services, general and specialized dentistry, scheduled and emergency hospitalization, as well as a range of convalescent services.

Sports and healthy lifestyle promotion

Sports promotion and propaganda of healthy lifestyle are one of the key priorities in Rosneft social policy. The Company pays annual rent for gyms and swimming pools for employees, holds competitions in various sports; special care is given to development of children sports. Construction of large sports facilities at the Company expense is ongoing in the Far East, Siberia and the Russian South. Each of those facilities will include swimming pools, game gyms, fitness and weightlifting halls.

The Company also supports training of individual athletes. Among its employees there are seven International Masters of Sports and 32 Masters of Sports, including champions of Russia, Europe and the World, as well as award-winners of the respective championships.

A bright example of the Company adherence to healthy lifestyle values is the annual multi-stage Spartan Olympics. Competitions are held in eight summer disciplines (mini-football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, calisthenics, weightlifting, chess and rope pulling), and the number of such Spartan Olympics participants is growing each year. In 2010 over 17 thousand athletes took part in competitions. The Spartan Olympics held by Rosneft for its employees is following the Olympic score system and it includes three tournament stages. The first mass attendance stage is the qualifying rounds at the Company ventures. The second round has the winning teams meeting in zone contests. The Final Games have the winners of zone contests.

In 2011, Rosneft held its first Spartan Olympics. Over 300 employees from 18 Rosneft’s subsidiaries took part in competitions. Competitions were held in four disciplines: hockey, skiing, skating and sledding.
