Purneftegaz
Established in 1986, Purneftegaz is engaged in the development of oil, gas condensate, and natural gas fields in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District of Western Siberia. It is Rosneft’s third largest oil producer after Yuganskneftegaz and Samaraneftegaz, as well as the Company’s principal gas producer. In 2003, the assets of Selkupneftegaz, which is developing the Kynsko-Chaselskaya group of fields, were integrated with Purneftegaz.
Purneftegaz operates a highly concentrated reserve base. Over 70% of its oil reserves are located at only four fields (Komsomolskoye, Kharampurskoye, Tarasovskoye, Barsukovskoye), while natural gas reserves of the Kharampurskoye field make up 69% of Rosneft’s total gas reserves in the region. Overall, Purneftegaz accounts for 68% of Rosneft’s total proved gas reserves.
At the present, depletion rate of Purneftegaz’s two primary fields, Barsukovskoye and Tarasovskoye, stand at approximately 40%. In the near future, once the issue of associated gas utilization is resolved, the Company will be able to make use of these two field’s significant production growth potential, as well as that of the large Komsomolskoye oil and gas condensate field.
The fields at Purneftegaz are integrated with the regional transport infrastructure. Transneft’s Ust-Balyk — Omsk pipeline, running through Yuganskneftegaz’s fields, is also connected to Purneftegaz. Moreover, Purneftegaz’s fields have access to the Urengoi — Chelyabinsk — Novopolotsk pipeline owned by Gazprom.
Purneftegaz’s fields are located in close proximity to railways connecting the Pur-Pe station with Surgut. This route is used to transport gas condensate produced by Purneftegaz, which allows the Company to avoid the mixing of this feedstock with oil from other producers, as happens when using the Transneft pipeline system.
Production drilling by Purneftegaz was 128,000 meters, and 36 new wells (including injection wells) were brought into operation. Purneftegaz produced 60.6 mln barrels of oil and gas condensate and 3.94 bln cubic meters of gas (31.8% of Rosneft’s total gas output) during 2008. About 65% of oil produced by Purneftegaz was sent for refining at the Tuapse refinery, and most of the remainder was exported.
Purneftegaz is expected to play a major role in Rosneft’s strategy to monetize its gas reserves, and will also remain among the Company’s largest oil and gas condensate producers.
Major fields: Kharampurskoye, Tarasovskoye, Barsukovskoye, Komsomolskoye.
