Born in 1957. Graduated from Ufa Petroleum Institute with honors in 1981. Doctor of Engineering and author of several scientific publications.

From 1993 – General Director of OJSC Rosneft-Sakhalinmorneftegaz.

From 1997 – Vice-President of Rosneft.

Appointed President of Rosneft by a Resolution of the Russian Government on October 14, 1998.

Member of the Board of Directors of Rosneft from 1995.

Sergey Bogdanchikov is also member of the Board of Directors of OJSC ROSNEFTEGAZ, member of the Union of Oil and Gas Producers of Russia, President of the Union of All-Russian Public Associations ‘All-Russian Association of Summer Olympic Sports’.
