Retail Network
Rosneft currently operates the second largest filling station network in Russia that covers 36 regions, from Murmansk in the North to the North Caucasus in the South, and from Bryansk in the West to Sakhalin Island in the East. In 2007, the Company achieved major progress in further expanding its marketing network as more than 1,000 new filling stations were acquired. As a result, Rosneft’s retail network grew 2.5 times compared to 2006. The Company also significantly broadened its presence in the fast-growing markets of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
As of year-end 2007, Rosneft’s retail network comprised 1,695 proprietary and leased filling stations, and 71 franchised filling stations operating under the Rosneft brand. The Company’s proprietary and leased filling stations operated 124 car washes, 732 stores, and 70 cafes. 128 proprietary and leased stations had garages for minor repairs and servicing of motor vehicles. In 2007, Rosneft sold 2.31 mln. tonnes of petroleum products through its retail network, more that a twofold increase compared to 2006.
Rosneft’s strategy envisages continuing development of the filling station network in areas close to Company-owned refineries and tank farms (the Sakhalin, Chita, Khabarovsk, Primorsky, and Krasnoyarsk regions in the Far East, and the Samara, Krasnodar, and Stavropol regions in Southern Russia), as well as in the fast-growing markets of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Another top priority for Rosneft is increasing the sales volumes of high-quality goods and services through further expanding its network of filling stations with retail premises, cafes, car washes, and garages. Rosneft also plans to optimize its retail portfolio through disposing of underperforming filling stations and upgrading those that can potentially increase sales volumes.
