Charity and Sponsorship

Charity and sponsorship is a core element of Rosneft’s social policy. The Company makes charitable donations to public and municipal organizations, educational establishments, healthcare organizations, sports clubs, etc. Overall, in 2008, Rosneft spent more than RUB 600 mln on charitable activities.

The Company is increasingly focused on providing comprehensive financial assistance to Northern indigenous communities inhabiting the regions of Rosneft’s production operations. The Company is involved in the construction of schools, healthcare and other facilities, and ongoing development of public infrastructure. These localities are provided with modern machinery, equipment, and fuel; the Company finances summer recreation programs for children, exhibitions, contests, and other events. Rosneft is deeply involved in reviving Russia’s cultural and religious heritage, and strengthening the moral foundations of society. In recent years, the Company has actively participated in the restoration and construction of new churches in many regions, including Moscow, Southern Russia, Siberia, and the Far East.
