Improving Working Conditions

Rosneft is consistently focused on creating comfortable and safe working conditions to ensure maximum labor efficiency. As part of its social policy, the Company actively develops new recreation areas, maintains social infrastructure, and finances projects to enhance the comfort and safety of living.

One of Rosneft’s top priorities is ongoing development and improvement of its shift camps that currently accommodate thousands of employees. The Company has therefore adopted the Social and Production Standards for Shift Workers, and the Target Program to ensure these regulatory requirements are being duly implemented and strictly observed. As a result of comprehensive infrastructure development activities the Company’s shift camps are changing drastically, with the old-style hostels being supplanted by modern and much more comfortable housing, improving healthcare, broadening range of public services, and new sports and recreation facilities being constructed. In 2009–2017, the Company plans to invest RUB 14.8 bln in the shift camp upgrade program.

Creating favorable conditions for residence, work, and recreation is central to all Rosneft’s field development projects. Thus, in 2008, a temporary shift camp for 1,220 people was completed at the Vankor field in Eastern Siberia. It meets advanced comfort and safety standards, and includes a cultural and sports center. Construction work began on four more camps.

In 2008, Rosneft invested a total of RUB 5.43 bln in its social infrastructure development programs. In particular, RUB 544.9 mln was spent on further development of the existing shift camps and the construction and renovation of the social facilities. Rosneft’s subsidiaries completed the construction of three dormitories, and participated in the refurbishment and renovation of more than 200 accommodation, catering, and sports facilities, etc.
