Healthcare
The major objective of the Company’s Healthcare Program is to achieve a 30% reduction in the overall illness rate by 2013 against 2006. The Program envisages the following measures:
- annual medical examination and vaccination;
- illness rate analysis and implementation of preventive measures;
- recreation and health improvement;
- encouraging healthy lifestyle;
- maintaining comfortable and safe workplace conditions.
In 2009–2013, Rosneft plans to spend a total of RUB 7 bln on its Healthcare Program. The Company’s key healthcare priorities are introducing Corporate Healthcare Standards, developing healthcare divisions at the subsidiaries, illness prevention, and enhancing treatment effectiveness (including on-site treatment).
Voluntary medical insurance
Rosneft’s voluntary medical insurance program provides for complete polyclinic treatment, general and specialized dental treatment, scheduled and emergency hospitalization, as well as rehabilitation treatment. In 2008, more than 90,000 employees took advantage of this medical insurance scheme. The Company’s total spending on medical insurance was RUB 394.5 mln.
Promotion of healthy lifestyle
Promotion of healthy lifestyle is among the key aspects of Rosneft’s social policy. Each year, the Company rents gyms and swimming pools for its employees and holds tournaments in different kinds of sports. Special focus is placed on continuous development of children sports. The Company is currently involved in the construction of five sports centers in the Far East, in Siberia, and in Southern Russia. Each center will have swimming pools, sports halls and gyms. These facilities are expected to be completed in 2008–2009.
In the host regions, competitions for Rosneft prizes and for prizes sponsored by its subsidiaries are regularly held. For example, in July 2007, the International Rosneft Prize Handball Tournament took place in Krasnodar. In November 2007, Rosneft sponsored the Russian tennis team in the Davis Cup finals where Russia competed against the USA.
Another important corporate sports event is the annual multi-stage Tournament that includes eight summer sports (five-a-side, basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, track and field, kettlebell lifting, chess, and tug-of-war). Over the last several years, the Corporate Tournament has become increasingly popular among Rosneft employees, with the total number of participants increasing from approximately 3,000 in 2005 to almost 15,000 in 2008.
