Young Specialists

Ongoing training and professional development of young specialists is among the Company’s top priorities. According to Rosneft’s HR policies, the young specialist is a graduate of a full-time university program, 33 years old or younger, employed by the Company immediately after graduation, and working in the profession specified in his or her university diploma for no more than 3 years. Currently, Rosneft employs more than 2,595 young specialists.

In working with its young specialists, Rosneft pursues a systematic approach based on three corporate standards: the Young Specialists standard, the Mentorship standard, and the Young Specialists Council standard.

Young Specialists Councils have been established at almost all major subsidiaries of the Company. The main functions of the Councils include assisting young specialists during their induction, helping them to address social problems, representing their interests, organizing conferences, cooperating with schools and universities together with HR departments, etc.

Three Steps Program

The Company has introduced the Three Steps, a training and development program for young specialists that guides professional and career growth during the first three years of employment.

During the first year (the first step), a young specialist adapts to the new working conditions by learning corporate values and ethics of the Company and specific subsidiary, and meeting the managers. During the first month, every young specialist is assigned to a mentor who helps him or her to draw up a personal development plan.

During the second year (the second step), young specialists participate in the corporate professional training program, go through evaluation of their personal and professional qualities, and define their future career goals. It is compulsory for young specialists to participate in scientific and engineering conferences, where they can demonstrate their ability to come up with innovative solutions.

Scientific and engineering conferences are held annually together with Young Specialist Councils at all the Company’s core subsidiaries. During conferences, young specialists present their projects regarding optimization of production processes (improving efficiency, reducing production costs, introducing new operational models, implementing advanced technologies, etc.). In addition, the Company’s young specialists take part in the Russian Fuel and Energy Sector contest held by Rosneft together with the RF Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Energy.

During the third year (the third step), the Company evaluates young specialists’ performance and professional growth potential. The evaluation takes into account the results of obligatory training, opinions of mentors and managers, as well as performance in scientific and engineering conferences, and in professional contests. Eventually, young specialists with high creative and leadership capacity are identified and included in the Company’s candidate pool.

To identify and assess leadership potential of young employees, the Company’s HR division conducts the Growth Leaders business game.

Support of young specialists

The Company’s young specialists are entitled to a comprehensive set of benefits, including one-time financial aid, special bonuses, dormitory accommodation or coverage of up to 50% of accommodation expenses, places in kindergartens at Rosneft’s expense, corporate mortgage lending program, etc.
